During 2021, SPERI (Shanghai Power Equipment Research Institute), a research and technology company belonging to the SPIC (State Power Investment Corporation) group, has signed three contracts with Tecnatom for the deployment and use of TecOS SOLCEP at three coal-fired plants belonging to the Chinese electricity utility SPIC: Kaifeng, Caojing and Fuxi.
These three contracts with SPIC-SPERI have arisen in the wake of the framework agreement signed in 2018 between Tecnatom and SPIC, leading to a course of action for the joint installation of the solution in the latter’s thermal power plants, beginning with a “pilot” experience at three plants.
The project has been carried out thanks to the collaboration of Tecnatom China, along with the technical and sales teams, and has meant an important challenge due to the difficulties involved because of the restrictions regarding travel to China and the complications in connecting remotely to the plants for cybersecurity reasons.
SPIC is one of China’s biggest utilities and maintains excellent relations with Tecnatom following previous collaborations, such as the Smart Power Plant project, with one of its subsidiaries.
The signing of these agreements represents a significant milestone for Tecnatom because it allows us to penetrate a market as complex as the Chinese one precisely at a time of great protectionism, when the strategy of reaching agreements with local companies would appear to be the most suitable. Moreover, it is planned to extend the scope to other plants and technologies once the results of this first phase have been evaluated.
